Corvinus University of Budapest is Hungary's leading university for business, economics and the social sciences, with roots in the Faculty of Economics of the Royal Hungarian University, established in 1920. Modern economist training began in 1948 with the creation of a dedicated economics university, renamed Karl Marx University of Economic Sciences in 1953 and, after the end of communism, University of Economics of Budapest in 1990; the Corvinus name arrived with later reorganisations. Teaching in Hungarian, English, French and German across Budapest and Székesfehérvár, its alumni include a former prime minister and governors of the Hungarian National Bank.
