About Athens University of Economics (AUEB)
The Athens University of Economics and Business is the oldest university in Greece in the fields of economics and business: founded in 1920 as the Athens School of Commercial Studies, it was renamed in 1926 the Supreme School of Economics and Commercial Sciences — ASOEE, an acronym Greeks still use — and took its present name in 1989. In 1955 its course of study grew from three to four years and split into two degrees, one in economics and one in business administration; today the university counts eight academic departments offering eight undergraduate degrees and 28 master's programmes, and is recognised as Greece's leading institution for economic and business studies.
