Singapore Management University is a publicly-funded autonomous university established in 2000 in Singapore's Bras Basah-Bugis district. It was deliberately built on an American model: in 1999 it signed a collaboration agreement with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania to shape its curriculum and institutional design. Organised into eight schools — the Lee Kong Chian School of Business among them — SMU enrols about 10,000 students across accountancy, business, economics, computing, law and the social sciences, and holds the triple accreditation of AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA.
