BI Norwegian Business School (Handelshøyskolen BI) is a Norwegian private business school, organised as a self-owned foundation whose sole purpose is teaching and research. It was founded by Finn Øien on 1 June 1943 as a private evening school in trade and office subjects, was reorganised from a privately owned corporation into a self-owned foundation in 1968, and the following year the Norwegian Parliament decided to provide it with state funding. As of 2024, with over 21,000 students, BI is the largest business school and the fourth-largest university in Norway. Its main campus is in Nydalen, Oslo, with regional campuses in Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim.
