About JKU Linz

It carries the name of the astronomer Johannes Kepler, who wrote his magnum opus Harmonices Mundi in Linz and taught mathematics near the city. Set on a park campus in the northeast of Linz with about 27,000 students as of 2026 — one in nine from abroad — it teaches business, engineering, law, science, social sciences and medicine, was the first university in Austria to introduce an electronic student ID in 1998, and hosts the Johann Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
