Koç University is a private, non-profit research university in Istanbul that began operations in 1993 in converted factory buildings in İstinye before moving to its Rumelifeneri campus north of the city, overlooking the Bosphorus and the Black Sea. Designed by the architect Mozhan Khadem, who drew on Turkish and Ottoman heritage and the poetry of Rumi, the campus counts 60 buildings. More than 95% of classes are taught in English, and the university maintains over 250 partner institutions, from the University of California to Cornell and Georgetown, across colleges spanning business and economics, law, engineering, science, nursing and medicine.
