Sabancı University was established in July 1994 by the Sabancı Group under the guidance of the Sabancı Foundation, one of Turkey's leading family foundations, and designed with unusual care: a Search Conference in 1995 brought together more than 50 academics from 22 countries to shape its academic programmes before a stone was laid.
