Alliance Manchester Business School is the business school of the University of Manchester, and one of the oldest in the UK. Its foundation dates back to 1918, when the Manchester Municipal College of Technology pioneered academic management training with a Department of Industrial Administration funded by an endowment from asbestos magnate Sir Samuel Turner. The MBA course started in 1967, and the 'new' Manchester Business School was formed in 2004 through a merger of several university units. On 21 September 2015 it took its present name following a donation from Lord Alliance of Manchester. Three-quarters of its student body comes from outside the UK.
