Coventry University traces its origins to the Coventry School of Design of 1843, was known as Lanchester Polytechnic from 1970 and gained university status in 1992. The larger of the city's two universities — the other being Warwick — it operates through the Coventry University Group, with campuses in Coventry, Scarborough, London and Wrocław, its London campus focused on business and management.
