ESSEC Business School is a French grande école founded in Paris in 1907 by Jesuits, created in response to the opening of HEC Paris amid the era's flowering of Catholic business schools. It operated independently until 1981, when it came under the Versailles Chamber of Commerce, later folded into the Paris Île-de-France chamber. Its main campus sits in Cergy, with sites in Paris, Rabat and Singapore, and it belongs to the 'Parisiennes' — the informal trio of France's most prestigious business schools, alongside HEC and ESCP — and to the CY Alliance of Paris-region institutions.
