IE Business School was founded in Madrid in 1973 as the Instituto de Empresa by entrepreneurs who put entrepreneurship at the centre of business education, and has been part of IE University since 2007. An early mover online, it launched its first blended programme in 2001 and its e-learning unit in 2002 — the same year it earned the 'triple crown' of international accreditations. In 2021 it opened the IE Tower campus in Madrid's financial district. The school maintains a network of roughly 220 partner universities and runs BBA, MBA and Executive MBA programmes, master's degrees in finance and management, and PhD and DBA tracks.
