The Desautels Faculty of Management is the business faculty of McGill University in Montreal, with roots in the Department of Commerce founded in 1906; McGill awarded its first Bachelor of Commerce degrees in 1915. The independent School of Commerce of 1920 and the Graduate School of Business Administration of 1963 merged in 1968 to form the Faculty of Management, housed since 1972 in the Samuel Bronfman Building. In 1998 it launched the first Canadian degree programme offered in Japan, and in 2005 it took the name of Marcel Desautels, whose gifts exceeded $32 million. Its Applied Investments Program was the first of its kind in Canada.
