Swansea University was established in 1920 as University College of Swansea, the fourth college of the University of Wales, and took its present name in 2007 when the Welsh federation's members became universities in their own right. Its two campuses face Swansea Bay: Singleton Park to the west of the city, and the £450 million Bay Campus beside Jersey Marine Beach, opened in 2015.
