Ulster University is Northern Ireland's largest university and the island of Ireland's second-largest. Established in 1865 as Magee College in Derry, it took its modern form in 1984 through the merger of the New University of Ulster (founded 1968) with Ulster Polytechnic, uniting four campuses — Belfast, Coleraine, Derry and Jordanstown — under one banner, with branch campuses now in London and Birmingham. Rebranded Ulster University in 2014, it remains legally the University of Ulster, and anchors higher education across the province.
