The University of Exeter received its royal charter in 1955, uniting predecessor institutions that ran back through the 19th century — St Luke's College (1838), the Exeter Schools of Science and Art, and the Camborne School of Mines (1888). Its four campuses split between Devon and Cornwall: Streatham and St Luke's in Exeter, Truro and Penryn in Cornwall, the latter shared with Falmouth University. Part of the 1950s second wave of civic universities, Exeter joined the Russell Group in 2012 and its business school is AMBA-accredited.
