About University of Westminster
The University of Westminster was founded in 1838 as the Royal Polytechnic Institution — the first polytechnic to open in London — receiving a royal charter in August 1839 and university status in 1992. Its main campus has stood on Regent Street from the beginning, joined by sites in Fitzrovia, Marylebone and Harrow, and it operates the Westminster International University in Tashkent. Member of AMBA, EFMD and EQUIS through its business school, Westminster counts among its alumni a Nobel laureate in medicine, the inventor of cordite, and Oscar- and Grammy-winners in numbers few universities can claim.
