About Université de Bordeaux (IAE)

The University of Bordeaux was established by Pope Eugene IV on 7 June 1441, when Bordeaux was an English town. Abolished by the National Convention in 1793 during the French Revolution, it reopened in 1896, was split into three universities in 1970, and has been reunited since 2014, with only Bordeaux III remaining independent. Today it counts more than 50,000 students, over 6,000 of them international, across campuses stretching from Bordeaux, Pessac and Talence to Dax and Périgueux, and numbers three Nobel Prize winners and a King of Morocco among its alumni.
