Nova School of Business and Economics is one of the five faculties of the New University of Lisbon (UNL, itself established in 1973) and was founded in 1978 as its Faculty of Economics, dedicated to economics, finance and management. It adopted the Nova SBE name in 2012. In 2007, together with Católica Lisbon and MIT's Sloan School of Management, it launched The Lisbon MBA. In September 2018 the school moved to its purpose-built Carcavelos campus facing the Fort of São Julião da Barra on the Atlantic coast — decorated on inauguration day by the President of the Republic with the Order of Public Instruction.
