About Arkansas Walton (MSF)

The Sam M. Walton College of Business is the business school at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Created in 1926 by the Harvard graduate Charles C. Fichtner, who became its first dean, it is the largest college at the university, serving nearly 10,000 students, and gained AACSB accreditation in 1931. It is known nationally for retail, entrepreneurship, information systems and supply chain management, helped by a close relationship with Walmart Stores, based in nearby Bentonville. In October 1998 the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation made a $50 million gift — the largest ever given to a public business college at the time — after which the college was named for Walmart's founder Sam Walton.
