About Vanderbilt (Owen)

The Owen Graduate School of Management is the business school of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Its founding resolution passed in 1967 and operations began in September 1969 with twelve faculty members and six students, in a renovated funeral home renamed Alexander Hall. The school honours Ralph 'Peck' Owen — a Vanderbilt alumnus, founder of Equitable Securities and later chairman of American Express — and his wife Lulu, whose estates gave $33.5 million, said at the time to be the largest gift ever made to a US business school. Based in Management Hall since 1982, Owen offers eight degree programmes, including the MBA, a Master of Science in Finance and a Master of Management.
