Babson College is a private business school in Wellesley, Massachusetts, built around entrepreneurship education. It was founded in 1919 by the financier Roger Babson, who held the Babson Institute's first classes that September in his own Wellesley home with twenty-seven students, running the school like a business — complete with office desks and time clocks. The college earned degree-granting authority from Massachusetts in 1947, and in 1969 it became a college, moved to a four-year Bachelor of Science and admitted women. Today it collaborates with neighbouring Olin College and Wellesley College in the three-college partnership known as BOW.
