Bentley University is a private university in Waltham, Massachusetts, founded in 1917 by Harry C. Bentley as the Bentley School of Accounting and Finance: thirty students attended his first class that February in a rented room on Huntington Avenue in Boston. Permanently coeducational since 1942 and incorporated as a non-profit in 1948, the school moved to its present Waltham campus after being accredited to confer four-year Bachelor of Science degrees in 1961, added graduate degrees in 1973, and opened a campus in Bahrain in 2002. Business remains its core: one undergraduate school pairing business majors with arts and sciences, plus master's programmes, an MBA and doctoral studies.
