The Robert H. Smith School of Business is the business school of the University of Maryland, College Park. The University of Maryland introduced an undergraduate business programme in 1921 within its Department of Economics, restructured it into a separate College of Commerce in 1938, and issued its first MBA in 1947. The school was renamed in 1998 after its alumnus and benefactor Robert H. Smith, who had graduated in accounting in 1950.
