About Stevens Institute of Technology
Stevens Institute of Technology is a private research university in Hoboken, New Jersey, founded in 1870 through an 1868 bequest from Edwin Augustus Stevens. One of the oldest technological universities in the United States, it was the first American college devoted solely to mechanical engineering, and its 55-acre campus occupies Castle Point, the highest point in Hoboken, looking across the Hudson at Manhattan. It enrols more than 8,000 students from 47 states and 60 countries across four schools — engineering and science, business, systems and enterprises, and humanities, arts and social sciences — with a fifth, the School of Computing, approved in 2026.
