About Suffolk University (Sawyer)

Suffolk University is a private university in Boston, Massachusetts, with 7,560 students across all campuses, making it the tenth-largest university in metropolitan Boston. It was founded as a law school in 1906 by Boston lawyer Gleason Archer Sr. and named after Suffolk County. Located at the downtown edge of the historic Beacon Hill neighbourhood, next to the Massachusetts State House, it comprises the College of Arts and Sciences, the Sawyer Business School and the Law School. The Sawyer Business School — then the College of Business Administration — was founded in 1937, the same year the three academic units were incorporated as Suffolk University.
