The A. B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University in New Orleans was founded in 1914 as the College of Commerce and Business Administration, and in 1916 became one of the fourteen founding members of the AACSB, the leading accrediting body for business schools. The MBA arrived in 1940, the PhD in 1976 and the Executive MBA in 1983. Named after A. B. Freeman, chairman of the Louisiana Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and New Orleans philanthropist, the school is known in the finance community as the publisher of the Burkenroad Reports.
