About UC Berkeley Haas

The Haas School of Business, branded as Berkeley Haas, is the business school of the University of California, Berkeley, a public research university in Berkeley, California. It was founded in 1898 as the university's College of Commerce, when Cora Jane Flood donated land to the university to support the study of commerce, and it was the first business school at a public university in the United States. In 1904 the university hired Henry Rand Hatfield, who later became the college's second dean, as the first full-time accounting professor in the country. Named after Walter A. Haas, the school occupies four buildings around a central courtyard on the southeastern corner of the campus, and its startup incubator, Berkeley SkyDeck, is in downtown Berkeley.
