HEC Lausanne is the faculty of business and economics of the University of Lausanne, founded on 15 April 1911 by Léon Morf and Georges Paillard within the Faculty of Law, welcoming twelve students in its first year. Its intellectual ground was prepared by giants: Léon Walras, founder of the Lausanne School and of general equilibrium theory, and Vilfredo Pareto of Pareto efficiency both taught at Lausanne. Considered one of Switzerland's three leading business schools alongside St. Gallen and IMD, it offers bachelor's, master's and PhD degrees plus a part-time Executive MBA and executive education.
